Introduction to NITTP

New Industrialisation and Technology Training Programme (NITTP) is a funding scheme subsumed under the New Industrialisation Support Scheme of the Innovation and Technology Fund. It aims at subsidizing local companies on a 1:1 matching basis to train their staff in advanced technologies, especially those related to “New Industrialization”. These technologies should be advanced in nature and not yet widely adopted in Hong Kong. The adoption of such technologies should also benefit the economy of Hong Kong.

Funding Ceiling: Each enterprise is subject to a funding ceiling of HK$250,000 in each financial year at the course commencement date.

Funding model: Reimbursement of funds (enterprises can choose to pre-disburse 50% of the approved training subsidy amount)

Two types of training courses are supported under the NITTP:

  • Public course (local or non-local training) – a training course that is open to the public for enrollment.
  • Tailor-made course (local or non-local training) – a training course that is designed for a particular company (or companies).

NITTP funding application eligibility (company and employee)

If you want to apply for NITTP courses, you must meet the following qualifications:

Registered in Hong Kong under the Business Registration Ordinance (Chapter 310) It is a non-governmental and non-subvented organization The recommended employees are Hong Kong permanent residents under the full-time employment of the company with the necessary background / experience relevant to the advanced technology.

(1) Select course funding from the list of DIHK courses. Enterprises should send their applications for training grants to the NITTP Secretariat at least five weeks before course commencement.

(2)Enterprises should provide the following documents to the NITTP Secretariat through the online system (https://nittp.vtc.edu.hk/):

(a) A copy of the company’s valid business registration certificate (Certificate should be valid as of the application dates for the training grant and reimbursement);
(b) A copy of the Hong Kong Identity Card of each full-time employee recommended for training
(c) A copy of 3 months of Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) records for each employee nominated for the training. A fulltime employee shall not be employed by more than one employer during the covered period;
(d) Documentation supporting relevant academic qualifications and work experience for each employee recommended for training:

(i) Documentary proof of academic qualification and proof of at least one year of full-time work experience relevant to the advanced technology of the subject nominated course for each nominated employee who possesses a bachelor’s degree/higher diploma/diploma or above qualification (Qualification Framework level 3 or above), or
(ii) Documentary proof of academic qualification and proof of at least two years of full-time work experience relevant to advanced technology for employees who could not meet the above academic qualification as stated in paragraph (d)(i); and
(e) Any documents that the Secretariat considers necessary for the company to submit to assist in processing the relevant application.

(3) Apply online to get up to 50% of the first phase subsidy.

(4) Complete the training course and achieve 70% attendance rate.

(5) The company must report to the NITTP Secretariat within two months after the training and submit the following information to complete the funding application:
(a) Training Grant Application Form –
(i)Local courses (Form 3A); or
(ii) Non-local courses (Form 3B).
(b) Confirmation of training completion and payment (Form 4); and
(c) Training student survey

(6) Receive remaining funding for tuition fees
